Berry Head seawatch 20/10/20 & 19/10/20

20/10/20 08:10-17:00 S-SSW 6, despite ideal conditions pretty slow. Highlights were a winter plumage adult Black Guillemot that flew in and sat on the the sea 10:05-10:45 and 7 Little Gulls late afternoon. Other species included:  22 Balearic Shearwaters, Manx Shearwater, 2 Arctic Skuas, 4 Bonxies, 8 Mediterranean Gulls (6 adults incl. one still in full bp & 2 2nd winters), 36 Common Gulls, 67 Kittiwakes, Fulmar (unusual in October, as most out to sea moulting this month), Common Scoter, c1400 Auks (mostly Razorbills) and c30 Swallows. Mammals: c12 Common Dolphins, 3 Harbour Porpoises and a Grey Seal.

And yesterday 19/10/20 10:30-15:00 SSE 5-6: again very few skuas just one Bonxie! Otherwise 61 Common Gulls, 10 Mediterranean Gulls, Red-throated Diver, 10 Common Scoters and 6 Balearic Shearwaters, steady passage of Gannets (c400), Kittiwakes (c120) and auks (c500). Cetaceans c20 Common Dolphins & 3 Harbour Porpoises.
