Whitethroat in Torrington

It is around 14 years since I heard a Whitethroat sing from the Devon hedge along the back of my flat, which used to be a regular springtime thing. This afternoon (13 April) I was checking the hawthorns when a 'sparrow' didn't look quite right. When it briefly broke the cover of emerging leaves, it clearly had a white throat. I am not familiar with the lesser whitethroat so I came straight in and compared the two species online. It had very quietly uttered some subsong, so from that and the size and browner colours I am pretty sure this was a Common Whitethroat
