Goosanders in the mist

A return visit to the Torquay Reservoirs produced 22 Goosanders (3 adult males and 19 redheads) on the middle lake, the most I've seen here I think, plus 6 Tufted Ducks. As one would expect in the gloom, the woods were largely quiet, but a pair of Crossbills were active at the East end of the upper dam.

Back at home in Exeter, the first two wintering Blackcaps were "tacking" in the mature gardens of St Leonards, and several Redwings passed over. Haven't seen or heard the Belle Isle Parakeet for two weeks now, so perhaps colonisation has been postponed.
