Leaf cutter bees
While out photographing wildlife in Instow’s dunes area, I came across some bees that were carrying rolled-up leaves. I followed the bees and discovered they were part of a 50+ strong colony nesting in the sand dunes. It was fascinating to watch them, as they pulled the rolled-up leaf into tunnels and I even saw two bees excavating new tunnels. On-line research points towards them being Coastal Leaf Cutter Bees, is that correct?
