Beesands Ley

The WeBS counts here this winter have been the poorest i can remember  ( a single Mallard the only duck present in February ) so i was very surprised to find some reasonable numbers today namely 5 Mallard, 2 Shoveler, 15 Pochard, 64 Tufted Duck, 2 Great Crested Grebes and 14 Coot. I was hoping that if they had come around the corner from Slapton there might have been one of the Ring-necked Ducks but alas no. Equally given the time of year i suppose they may be recently arrived birds heading north and resting up a bit. Little in Start Bay apart from a Great Northern Diver off Beesands village.
