Emsworthy Mire and Holwell Tor

Late afternoon. Great views of a pair of Cuckoos, a singing male Redstart and several Wheatears. Also 2 Snipe, a singing Reed Bunting, a Fox and a sizeable Grass Snake. Disappointingly also a couple with a Springer Spaniel running around off the lead on Emsworthy reserve itself despite information signs about ground nesting birds and the need to keep dogs on a lead at every entrance and parking place!
