Around the Exe

RSPB Bowling Green Marsh ~ Water levels very high, large numbers of Black Tailed Godwit on the marsh with more birds arriving on a regular basis, at least four coloured ringed birds observed but the shear density of birds made reading the colour combinations challenging.

More Lapwings than I have previously seen on site with a steady flow of new birds arriving, some 50 Dunlin, numerous Redshank, five Greylag Geese, ducks included Pintail, Tufted, Shoveller, Wigeon and Teal, several large skeins of Brent geese passing over. On leaving two Magpie's locked in a serious fight on the road.

At Darts Farm a large flock of Brent Geese flew in but local shooting soon cleared the area of water fowl, several Reed Bunting near the fishing ponds.

Exminster marsh a first year Peregrine seen perched on a fence, four Barnacle geese with a flock of Canada's, and a flock of 350 plus Golden Plover.
