Berry Head

A slow start to the morning until I got into the quarry where I found 3 Blackcaps, 1 Whitethroat, 5-6 Willow Warbler5-6 Chiffchaff, 1 Reed Warbler and this... A Western Bonelli's Warbler! It showed 3 times over 1.5 hrs  -sadly there was no sign of it after about 0920hrs.

The bird called several times confirming the identity as Western Bonelli's Warbler. This is the first specifically identified Western  Bonelli's on mainland Devon since 1986 (the last Devon record was 2010 on Lundy - the 2016 Devon Bird Report county list is wrong! Thanks James Diamond)
