South Efford Marsh, Aveton Gifford, Nr Kingsbridge

Friday 24th August. The osprey still on the East side of the Avon Estuary, just beyond the South end of the tidal road at mid-day.

From 5.30 to 6.30pm at South Efford hide. 3 common sandpipers, 5 ringed plover, 7 dunlin, 7 black-tailed godwits, 5 greenshank, probable green sandpiper (distant in the rain), 12 curlew, 1 whimbrel, kingfisher, 4 teal with 50+mallard and 70+ canada geese. Many pied wagtails and 2 yellow wagtails. On walk back, large twittering of about 150 house martins, with some swallows all very active overhead.
