Otter Estuary, Budleigh Salterton

A Spotted Crake was a very welcome addition to patch list this morning. It is actually quite showy for a Spotted Crake! Best viewed from the hide on the west side of the Otter just north of the Lime Kiln Car Park. The bird is feeding on the opposite side of the estuary along the vegetated muddy bank so a scope is pretty essential. Also important to avoid high tide. First seen late in the gloom yesterday evening but I didn't have my scope to confirm my suspicions! Some video on my blog later today for those interested. http://creamteabirding.blogspot.co.uk
