Marsh Harrier - West Charleton Marsh

At about 1300 hrs today a female Marsh Harrier flew from an easterly direction onto the marsh at W. Charleton and gave good views to my wife and I. It spent the next hour hunting, disappearing several times into the reedbed and was still active when we left at 1400hrs. Earlier on arrival at the location we were treated to good views, only 20m away, of a Cattle Egret picking ticks off the various cows. Other sightings included G.S. Woodpecker and a Jay on the feeders, 8 Little Egret, 4 male Reed Buntings, several Sedge Warbler and a lone male Cirl Bunting. Later nothing of great interest at a quiet Beesands Ley.
