Chiffchaffs-Charleton

In 2017 I closely monitored certain bird species in the Charleton parish. I've been looking at my Chiffchaff records for 2017 and 2018 on the East Charleton 1km square SX7642 which is the square, not surprising since it is on my doorstep, that has the most consistent recording effort from early in the season.

In 2017 between 22/03 and 31/03 I recorded 10 Chiffchaff territories with established singing males on them. There was a female (determined by behaviour) on one by the 28/03 and females on two others by 03/04.

For the corresponding period in 2018 I have recorded 2 Chiffchaff territories with established singing males on them (neither sings for any length of time) and no females have been seen to date (03/04).
