River Plym

A wet and windy walk along the River Plym from Laira Bridge to Marsh Mills through Saltram Park was also very muddy.

I had a search for the recently reported snipe (common and Jack) but with no luck, searching Blaxton Meadow, the vegetation by the river side at Marsh Mills and the flooded wooded area in Saltram Park.

Blaxton Meadow was flooded too and I had excellent views of the male pintail and a male and 2 female wigeon along with a good count of 41 shelduck. On the river I found a little grebe and a male and 2 female red bresated mergansers.

In Saltram Park 10 redwing were feeding in the fields with 2 mistle thrush. I also saw a grey wagtail, a treecreeper, male kestrel, 2 jay and quite a few goldcrests.......but no snipe!
