Exe Estuary Cruise, 1 February

The Bonaparte’s Gull was on Exmouth beach: a good start! Also close to Exmouth, but inside the estuary was a Great Northern Diver with the first of 23 Great Crested Grebes (the most I’ve ever seen here). There were 3 Greenshanks at Powderham and well over 100 Pintail feeding around the mouth of the Clyst. There were impressive numbers of Avocets, Lapwings, Dunlin and Black-tailed Godwits towards Topsham, where there was a drake Goldeneye on the river.
