Black Hole Marsh trip - E D Branch

On what turned out to be a clear sunny day 17 members were ably led round the reserve by Bob Olliver.  On Colyford Common we had close and good views of about 6 Water Pipit.  A Reed Bunting was seen nearby.  We viewed a small flock of Golden Plover from the hide on Colyford Marsh along with good numbers of Lapwing, a few Black-tailed Godwit and single  Greenshank.  A large flock of Fieldfare were present here.  The sight of the day was around 72 Snipe, which were seen north of Tower Hide on the edge of the reed beds east side of the river.  Total of 50 species seen.
