Slapton Ley

Stood on Slapton Bridge from 06:55-09:45 and the highlight was a Glossy Ibis which flew south down towards Torcross at 07:08. Other highlights were 6800 Woodpigeons heading anywhere between south - southwest, 2 Kingfishers, Firecrest,, 2 Bramblings and 11 Lesser Redpolls. At least 10,000 Starlings flew south down from the Higher Ley, presumably roosting at Strete Gate or in the Gara Valley.

Surprisingly the Ibis may be only the second modern record for Slapton Ley, ( one seen in October 1986 ). there is an old record of 2 shot in 1837. More details here https://charletonbirding.blogspot.co.uk/2017/11/scarce-herons.html
