Lyme Bay boat trip
Skuas from today's trip and more identification/aging puzzles. The first bird to approach the boat was a Pomarine Skua, followed 2 minutes later by an Arctic Skua which circled the boat at very close range. A third bird later on was seen and photographed only very distantly, a pale phase bird, probably arctic. Interesting that there are so many immature skuas out there both last week and this.
Pomarine skua, 2nd summer Arctic skua, 1st or 2nd summer Arctic skua, 1st or 2nd summer
