Labrador Bay, Shaldon.

12 members of DB attended this mornings fieldtrip (East Devon Branch) led by Richard Swinbank is search of Cirl Buntings and we were rewarded by many sightings including a family group.  Out to sea a few Gannet were initially present, a flock of c12 Scoter flew south and a few distant sea birds kept up the interest as to their ID but were too far out to confirm as we had all left our scopes in the cars.   Other birds of interest were a Buzzard, 2 Swift, several Willow Warbler, Whitethroat, c20 Goldfinch, Green Woodpecker and Skylark.  The steep gradients of the site failed to defeat us and the visit was a first for several of us and followed a talk last year by Kath Jeffs, RSPB Cirl Bunting Project Officer.
