Dockwell, South Brent

A visit to Dockwell near South Brent today, checked out three nest box's that I placed in some woodland last year, one has a sitting Blue Tit, one half full of dried moss and one just the remnants of a nest from last year.

Bird species included Mistle Thrush, Wren 2, Pied Wagtail, Linnets 20 plus, Yellow Hammer 3, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler 2, Goldfinch 4, Buzzard and my first Whitethroat of the season.

Back at home a single Long Tailed Tit, Nuthatch, Song Thrush pair still feeding young and a strange incident of a Carrion Crow attacking and pinning down a Jackdaw, the commotion drew in numerous very raucous Corvids that swooped and circled over the event, the Carrion Crow was clearly intent on killing the Jackdaw when a Magpie came in and actually struck the Crow, as a result the Jackdaw was able to escape not aware if anyone else has witnessed this type of behaviour.
