Woodpeckers, Waxwings but No Whale

Started the day at Yarner Wood where  Siskins, Nuthatch and Great Spotted Woodpecker, but no Redpolls at the feeders.

At Heathfield at least 10 Waxwings still finding berries in the A38 central reservation.

At Slapton Ley a flock of 20+ Sand Martin contained at least two House Martins.  On the ley a male and female Scaup.  In the bay a Great Northern Diver and a 2nd summer Mediterranean Gull, but no sign of the Little Gull (or of the whale).  100+ Pied Wagtails on the beach came into roost at the reeds at the 'duckpond' where a Water Rail also showed.
