Exminster Marshes

19 members of DB attended the morning fieldtrip (East Devon Branch) led by Ian Pullan.  We had intended to get to Turf but the weather deteriorated with mist coming from the coast and we turned back at the viewing platform.  Small numbers of Chiffchaff were active including one singing (incoming summer visitors?).  Numbers of ducks and geese were much reduced although Wigeon were still present in their hundreds.  A Cettis Warbler gave a brief call and 2 Buzzards and a Kestrel were seen at a distance, plus 3 Snipe, 2 Pintail and c10 Shoveler. Overhead 2 Skylark were singing.  A Mink was seen twice near the canal/fisherman's car park and crossed our path within feet.
