Humback and Birds as a bonus!

Watched distant views of the Humpback whale which briefly showed at 11.05am, then disappeared until lunchtime. Fortunately this gap was filled by regular sightings of Gannets plunge-diving close in and a spectacular Black-necked Grebe in almost full summer plumage, just offshore, moving north, but staying on the surface. The Humpback then reappeared at about 1pm, just when we had nearly given up. Easy to spot, watch for the spray from the blowhole, then the whale surfaces. Massive, spectacular creature, with very good views, in spite of the weather. Pods of porpoises and the occasional dolphin were seen as well.
