Desert Wheatear,Thurlestone and Prawle

Having recovered from a leg injury I decided that a speculative drive to Mike Passman's gaff might be worth it. On arrival (well, postcode did appear on Birdguides) it seemed too intrusive to wander around the private road so Jane and I set off for the coastal path . Returning from South Huish Ley we continued onto Thurlestone Sands where I commented  "this is where a Desert Wheatear should be ". Well, blow me, there it was, on the beach. We watched it from 11.45 till 12.20.

Link to YouTube : brief ,jerky video but you can see what it is, feeding voraciously. (Best to turn down the volume as quite windy) : though better to search for Desert Wheatear Thurlestone.

Later brief visit to Prawle where I saw a Woodcock , a Great Spotted Woodpecker and 4 Golden Plover.

Finally a very big thanks to (Devon Highways ?) who have filled in potholes on the approach road to the NT car park.
