South Brent to BGM and back via the Teign

Started the day off with a Barn owl and 16 Wigeon on the outskirts of South Brent.

RSPB Bowling Green Marsh on a high tide was standing room only in the very busy hide, at least 24 species including Barred Tail and Black Tailed Godwits, Grey Plover, Spotted Redshank, Redshank, Lapwing, Dunlin, Avocet, a good range of at least six duck species, Greylag Geese, Little Egret, Curlew, small bird species included a Chiffchaff seen alongside the lane to the viewing platform, Nuthatch, Song Thrush and Goldcrest. The Avocet and Godwits taking to the air periodically giving some stunning views.

Darts Farm a Kingfisher showing very well, Raven mobbing a Buzzard, a female Sparrow Hawk put up flocks of Godwit and Curlew, two Stock Dove, two Heron, female Stonechat and a couple of Wren.

Passage House Inn, Kingsteignton a Mediterranean Gull coming into summer plumage in with the mixed gull flock, three Little Grebe, Curlew and Little Egret.

Hackney Marshes far too busy with dog walkers and still very muddy underfoot, so left that for another day but in the short time we were there Goldcrest, Long Tailed Tit and Song Thrush.

Teigngrace railway sidings a small very yellow bellied Warbler species seen very briefly before being lost in the cover, Green Woodpecker calling several Wren on the path to Stover.

Kestrel sightings on the A38 at Marley Head and Buckfastleigh and two where the A38 and M5 merge.
