Wembury and River Plym

Sunny and muddy and a bracing wind this morning at Wembury but nice views of a water pipit, female type black redstart and common sandpiper on the beach near the sewage pipe at Wembury Point - water pipit constantly chasing off any rock pipits that dared to venture onto a small mass of seaweed where it was feeding.

Also seen - a good count of 74 oystercaatcher, 3 curlew and 8 little egrets along the beach, a flyover grey wagtail, a pair of bullfinch, 3 singing song thrush and a kestrel.

Offshore a few gannet and around The Mewstone a few fulmar.

From Laira Bridge over the River Plym a black necked grebe showing very well with 3 little grebe. A great northern diver also showing well as it headed down river, spooking the grebes as it dived beneath them. A kingfisher, 2 greenshank, 4 little egrets, a great crested grebe and a grey wagtail also seen.
