Occombe Farm NR, Torbay

Butterfly hunt at the reserve this afternoon started in most unexpected fashion with a female Purple Emperor doing circuits of the car park! Given the improbability of genuine vagrancy this is doubtless a released individual (a common occurrence in Torbay). On the reserve very abundant meadow browns, plus large skipper, holly blue, probable common blue, small copper, ringlet, red admiral, painted lady, small tortoiseshell, possible silver washed fritillary (didn't settle but big and flight action looked right).
