East. Prawle

Some better photos of a Continental Goldcrest caught at this mornings ringing session at  Moorwell Pond.  Note the extent that the pale grey sides to the crown extend beyond the nape onto the mantle. Also the cleaner white to the area around the eye and bridge at the base of the bill underparts are also much whiter with a slight pinkish hue to the buff breast band. Delightful little birds and so much brighter with more contrast, than our rather 'mucky' looking British Goldcrests. Also on site 20+ Chiffchaffs ( 11 caught and ringed ) 1 other Goldcrest (British ) and a stunning Lesser Whitethroat
