Eleven of us met in the car park on a very gloomy morning. Rain was always threatening, but held off until later in the walk.
Our route along the river and back through the woods started very quietly until about half of the group saw a Crane flying over. Some of us were busy being investigasted by friendly but over enthusiastic dogs at the time, curses!
The birds continued to toy with us a bit but it did pick up as the walk went on. Dipper and Grey Wagtail on the river, Great spotted Woodpecker and then a very small, but varied mixed flock of tits, with one each of Long tailed, Blue and Marsh Tits.
Crossing back over the river we had good views of a flock or around thirty Siskin. As we made our way back the rain finally came so we concentrated on getting back to the cars.
Overall, a walk where the birds teased us a bit, but we ended up with 22 species, so pretty good going.
