Plym Estuary

To add to Darren’s sightings, on the falling tide this morning there were  2 Great Northern Divers on the seaward side of Laira Bridge. In mid-estuary, there were  2 drake Red-breasted Mergansers and 2 Little Grebes, and later, as the tide fell further, I counted 9 Goosanders, including 4 adult males. On the meadow itself were 66 Wigeon and 47 Snipe.

A couple of photos to add to Kevin’s earlier post about the Hume’s Leaf Warbler from today, Wednesday. Also heard it make it’s quite distinctive ‘Chew-It’ call on a few occasions. The bird is constantly on the move and occasionally seems to congregate with Long Tailed Tits and Goldcrests.
