Braunton Burrows & Croyde Bay to Baggy Point
A single Merlin at the north end of Braunton Burrows early this morning. Now 21 Common Scoters & the single Surf Scoter still present between Baggy Pond & Baggy Point.
Roundham Head, Paignton
Three Great Northern Divers off headland, one in breeding plumage. Otherwise 5/6 Kittiwakes & 15+ Gannet.
Velator quay down to White House
Took a walk down to White House from velator quay this morning it was heading towards low tide saw several shelduck, curlew, odd green shank, plenty of red shank knocking about , small groups of ringed plover, and quite a few lapwings, I saw several small groups and one of probably 70-80 birds, I wonder if we will see them in the same numbers as last year? Also 1 grey heron, several little egret, a kingfisher near the toll house. Several juvenile cormorant.
Soar inc.Southdown Farm
First winter farmland bird count of the season with good numbers this early in the winter: 780 Skylark, 94 Yellowhammer & 72 Cirl Bunting. Also: 3 Red-legged Partridge, Snipe, 1650 Woodpigeon (690E, 660W, 300 grounded), 203 Stock Dove – most moving west, 18 Meadow Pipit, 49 Jackdaw (45E 4W), 240 Starling, 110 House Sparrow, 60 Chaffinch, 30 Goldfinch & 250 Linnet.
Scabbacombe Head
Short Eared Owl quartering field above Head c. 9am. this morning.

Cadover Bridge
This morning along the edge of Brisworthy Farm fields at least 6 Ring Ouzels and numerous Fieldfares and Redwings 12 Ravens and yesterday evening brief appearance of a Merlin.
Meeth Quarry
Flock of 5 Barnacle Geese from the hide this morning, been there a few days apparently .

A single Swallow seen at Starcross yesterday.
Lipson, Plymouth
Had the pleasure of watching a male Black Redstart feeding in my garden in lipson this morning.

Pottington to Heanton Court
Today I saw my first Solar powered Curlew. Tagged Curlew Orange/Orange rings on upper right leg and White over Blue rings on upper left leg, the same bird is carrying a tracker. I’d be interested to know more about this bird. Also along the route I saw four Dunlin, a small number of Lapwings, Wigeon, four Godwits, loads of Canada geese, a few Teal, Redshanks, and Little Egrets.
Haldon Forest Park
2 siskin,2 greenfinch,4 goldfinch,gt spot woodpecker on feeders.Male yellowhammer,coal tit,nuthatch,chaffinches on ground
Bickington sparrowhawk
Just got back for lunch and so did this sparrowhawk! Saw it in our garden, having caught a starling – a bit grim as the starling was still alive at first. Nature in the raw.
Baggy Point
The female Surf Scoter still present half way out to Baggy Point this morning, along with 20 Common Scoter. Very close to the rocks and having to dive under a succession of huge waves rolling in.
Rose-Ringed Parakeet-Luton
Looks like they’re now spreading to a location near you! 1 male Rose-Ringed Parakeet calling constantly from a tree top in Luton today and another (possibly the same one) flew over our house in East Teignmouth yesterday.
Surf Scoter off Baggy Point
Around noon today Sunday 12 Nov, a single female-type Surf Scoter swimming and diving with a group of 19 Common Scoter. They were not far off the coast, viewed from Pencil Rock, off the footpath, halfway between Croyde NT car park and the tip of Baggy Point.

Braunton Down
A walk up the lane earlier revealed a single yellowhammer feeding on spilt seed in the road along with a group of sparrows. Also 15 to 20 chaffinch in the hedge nearby

Croyde Bay > Baggy point
Early start this morning with a walk out to Baggy Point. On the way back at 11.00 in Croyde Bay were a flock of Scoters, 10 Common Scoters & the highlight a single Surf Scoter amongst them.
