Taw River, Ashford Strand

Before the tide reached the lime kiln area this afternoon, three ducks were drift fishing down the current by the North shore;

A Goosander male & Female and a Red-breasted Meganser male was keeping them company. Record shot included for ID confirmation…as I’m never that sure! Note the male G has a fish 🙂

Powderham Marsh RSPB

An afternoon visit. Short-eared Owl being harassed by numerous corvids. Two Marsh Harriers, both I believe 2cy. First certainly 2cy male. Second I believe the same but features less well pronounced.

Otherwise Water Rail, 2 Snipe, Kestrel, 4 Stonechat, 3 Redwing, 30+ Lapwing (90+ also over Railway line on Exminster M), 190+ Golden Plover circling (as disturbed by Harriers on Exminster), 12+ Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Reed Bunting, 2 Chiffchaff.

Surprisingly no ducks. Maybe too much Harrier activity as they crossed marsh a number of times while there.
