Escot Park – Whinchat
My first record of a Whinchat at Escot Park this morning, feeding along the line of fences next to the River Tale in the marshy area. Also, 2 Little Egrets flying over was surprisingly my first this year in the park.

Caen Estuary
This home-made boat hide with an outboard motor entered the Caen Estuary this afternoon on an incoming tide.
From examining the photos my suspicions are that this could be a shooter with what looks like a pump gun with a spaniel on board.
What do you think & what course of action should be taken?

Saltram Osprey
Osprey was on it’s so called “usual perch” for about half an hour this afternoon

Bowling Green Marsh
Yesterday between heavy showers an Osprey was seen from the viewing platform. A Peregrine flew over the marsh. Curlew Sandpipers, Dunlin Redshank, Knot, Ruff, Barwits, Blackwits, Curlew, Common Sandpipers, Snipe, Pintail, Teal, Mallards. Greenshank on Goosemoor.

Avon Dam
Walked up to Avon Dam; mostly the usual stuff, including Raven, Stonechat, Chaffinch, Linnet and Dunnock. Three Goosanders on the reservoir, plus one lonely Cormorant. Good lot of berries on the Rowan trees, which might be good for Ring Ouzel next month!

Exmouth
A first-winter Caspian Gull was off Mudbank briefly, shortly before 4pm. It was startled by a passing train and flew upriver. Also off there today – duck counts included 420 Wigeon, 104 Pintail, c6/700+ Teal, 2 Gadwall and 2 Shoveler. Also of note – 8 Common Terns. A Little Tern was off there yesterday. Photos of Caspian Gull at www.gobirdingexmouth.blogspot.co.uk.
Wrafton area
Arrived at about 2p.m. and saw 3 Black-tailed Godwits on the scrape. In the reserve good-size Tit flock mainly LTT and Blue, a good flock of at least 16 Goldfinch, but in the field to the South, what I’ve been expecting for some time now, – a Cattle Egret, with the Cows. Sadly, when I returned a few minutes later with camera, it had moved on! Compensation came in the form of the female Marsh Harrier. As I left a Greenshank had appeared on the scrape.
