Red kite over North Plymouth
We saw a Red kite flying directly over our house heading south in Woolwell at midday.
2 Red Kites seen circling over Ipplepen village today (21st May) at 2.30pm.

A reeling Grasshopper Warbler seen this evening.

Huge raptor over Alston, near Axminster 1.15 Sunday
Massive raptor, much bigger than a buzzard, no fork in tail so not red kite. My initial thought was sea eagle ! They have been seen on coast 7 miles away. Drifted away north east.
Yarner Woods pied flycatcher
A leisurely three-hour walk around Yarner Woods and we saw 13 pied flycatchers, five pairs and three males
Red Kites over Uplyme, East Devon
At 13:00 BST today 20 May over the Devon/Dorest border just north of Lyme Regis.
About 12 Red Kites circling and gaining great height above Harcombe Valley, Uplyme then gliding off singularly in a westerly direction into East Devon.
North Devon area
Today while working around Hartland and Bideford area I saw a lovely collection of birds. Starting at Bursdon Moor where there were a lot of Linnets, a pair of Stonechats, a Skylark and a few Meadow pipits. In the nearby Welsford Moor area there were two Blackcaps, a Siskin, a Goldcrest, a Chiffchaff, a Robin, a Marsh tit and a Buzzard. In Buckland Brewer I caught sight of a Greenfinch, a Nuthatch, two Coal tits and a Great spotted Woodpecker.
This morning on Crownhill Down: Skylarks, Willow warblers, Chiffchaffs, Swallows, Wheatears 2, numerous Linnets, Stonechats,
2 red kites low over Exeter canal and then climbing on thermals around 3pm

Pair of Linnets on brambles and young oak, Mincinglake Park in Exeter this afternoon. (50.7411730, -3.5065752)
2 Red Kites working along fields towards Grimspound then back along the ridge before being harassed by Carrion Crow. No wheatear or whinchat today. Green Woodpecker at Soussons. Plenty of activity around farms with House Martins and Swallows.
32 oystercatchers and 3 whimbrels on the beach before being pushed off by dog walkers.

Red kite, Dartmoor
2Red kites, 1 mile north of Chagford.
Thursday 18th May, mid-afternoon. Buzzard and Kestrel were the only raptors. Several Brimstones and Speckled Woods, and also a dragonfly that I didn’t recognise. Is it Crocothemis erythraea?
