Huge raptor over Alston, near Axminster 1.15 Sunday

Massive raptor, much bigger than a buzzard, no fork in tail so not red kite.  My initial thought was sea eagle !  They have been seen on coast 7 miles away.  Drifted away north east.

North Devon area

Today while working around Hartland and Bideford area I saw a lovely collection of birds. Starting at Bursdon Moor where there were a lot of Linnets, a pair of Stonechats, a Skylark and a few Meadow pipits. In the nearby Welsford Moor area there were two Blackcaps, a Siskin, a Goldcrest, a Chiffchaff, a Robin, a Marsh tit and a Buzzard. In Buckland Brewer I caught sight of a Greenfinch, a Nuthatch, two Coal tits and a Great spotted Woodpecker.

Exminster Marsh

Thursday 18th May, mid-afternoon. Buzzard and Kestrel were the only raptors. Several Brimstones and Speckled Woods, and also a dragonfly that I didn’t recognise. Is it Crocothemis erythraea?
