There was a lone Red kite being harassed but Buzzards and Crows at Little Silver this morning at 1120. Looks like they were all after the same dead Rabbit kitten. The photos are frame grabs from a video. You am an clearly see the size difference between the Buzzard and Kite.

Plym Estuary & Saltram

A walk today produced a male Wheatear, 3 Swallows, male Bullfinch, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 2 Snipe, 3 Turnstones, 8 Roe Deer & a Speckled Wood.

Red Kite, Drewsteignton

Single Red Kite being mobbed by a Crow just north of Drewsteignton at 11.29 this morning. Second sighting of a Red Kite just east of Whiddon Down at 11.53, possibly the same bird so drifting west.

This morning at top of Down. Wheatears 8. Numerous Linnets and Skylarks and a Raven. Chiffchaffs and a solitary Willow Warbler + a Jay and a Buzzard along the bridlepath.

Wrafton Pond at Sunrise today where there were four Little Grebes, a single Swan and a few Mallards. Out on the Scrape there were c30 Black tailed Godwit, a Ruff, two Canada Geese and a few Teal.  A vocal Jay in the top of a tree in the reserve. Later I popped out along the Toll Road and managed to spot and photograph a Cetti’s Warbler, a Linnet, two Swallows and a Reed Bunting. Cetti’s and Bunting on separate post to follow.

Dinworthy Bradworthy the boys are back in town …..

Great News,

Swallows back today at Dinworthy Bradworthy.Right on time. They usually arrive on the 7th or 8th April. The latest we have ever had them is the 23rd April in 2006. Lifted my heart today as it always does every year.
