Black Hole Marsh NR – Black-winged Stilt

I was just settling down for a bit of snooker on the telly, after Sunday lunch, as you do, when news broke of a Black-winged Stilt down at Black Hole Marsh NR near Seaton. Well, I don’t care how good anyone’s screw back to kiss the pink is, I couldn’t resist to come on down.
The stilt showed well from both Tower Hide and Island Hide as it was occasionally moved on by Black-tailed Godwits but always gave great views. My first for Devon, marvellous.

Passage House, Teign Estuary

A fine Spotted Redshank showed well, on and off, over the high tide this afternoon.

On arrival, it was along the main channel, east of the car park. It later became more distant and was mobile around the channels and open mud areas further west, towards the estuary bridge.
