A short walk from Moor gate to Owley gate on Dartmoor this morning 10 to 11.30 gave good views of several flocks of fieldfares Approx 6o total, and sightings of them feeding on the numerous hawthorn berries. There were a small number of redwings feeding too, plus blackbirds, song thrush and chaffinches. Close view of a female reed bunting (probably 1st winter). Also seen were robins, 2 goldcrests, gt, blue and coal tits, green woodpecker, pied wagtails, jackdaws and wood pigeons. Two roe deer and several butterflies on the wing, too active to id. Driving up to the moor we also saw huge numbers of starlings perched tightly together on telegraph lines.
