A Water Rail was busy preening in a small marsh by the River Torridge in Northam. The first spell of good weather encouraged it to come out in the early morning giving excellent views of the plumage and preening its dark brown back with its long bill. Other birds on the river were 2 Mute Swans, a Cormorant and the usual Oystercatcher and Redshank. Redwing and Linnet flocks down in number.

Later in day south of Bishops Tawton, good views of the Great White Egret and a large number of Cattle Egret on the River Taw floodplain.
