A cycle from Alphington to Exeter Quay, then down the river to Salmon Pool and then down the Exe Leat. Really rather good.
Alphington Brook had a Green Sandpiper, male Sparrowhawk and Grey Wagtail. Kingfisher at Exeter Quay along small creek. 5 Coot, 9 Cormorants, Little Grebe and first returning Lesser Black-backed Gull at Trew Weir. 4 Teal and Little Egret along the drainage channel.
Two Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers along the river and Leat. 4+ Siskin along the Leat. 275+ Redwing and 2 Mistle Thrush on the University playing fields. Along with 6 Song Thrush, with 4 more elsewhere including a singing male.
Also Jay, 20+ Greenfinch, 16+ Goldfinch across the site.
