Along with many other birders I spent the morning near Cadover Bridge hoping to see the reported Pallid Harrier, for me it was a wait in vain, but others did have brief views.
While waiting had good views of a male Kestrel, numerous Raven, six fly over Feildfare, several Cormorant, Meadow Pipit, Stonechat, a distant flock of Golden Plover and a flock of Starling.
On leaving headed out towards Sheeps Tor and at the end of the public road at Nattor a chance encounter with the Pallid Harrier as it flew past at low level, a striking looking bird to say the very least.
