Over the last couple of days there has been an increase in starling numbers as the youngsters join the family groups. Up to 18 seen on Friday. Also two distinct groups of swifts, one of four and the other of two. House sparrow numbers are up as well. With regards the avocet seen on the Taw, as I crossed the new bridge yesterday afternoon, what looked to be an avocet, colouring was right, was down on the large mud bank opposite where the civic centre used to stand.
