Great White Egret seen on Basset’s Ridge looking North from Fremington Quay to Heanton Court. Views from Canon 200D with 400mm lens showed a white heron noticeably large that the roosting gulls on the ridge. Views from the 200D attached to my 1300mm telescope confirmed a the ID – long neck, thin head with yellow beak, and a Little Egret walking in the same frame to confirm size.
I only had my telescope because I’d just cycled back from DWT Meeth Quarry – 3 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Gadwall, 1 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Grebes, 20+ Canada Geese, 3 Cormorants, 20+ Cooots seen from the bird hide
