From Muddlebridge to the Quay the first bird seen, opposite the cottages, was a Kingfisher which flew low over the water downstream to some overhanging branches. Near the infall railings was a Glossy Ibis and a Whimbrel. Nothing else of note other than a very small number of Common Redshank and the usual Gulls and ducks. Later, on the Taw, near the new bridge, were a group of about 10 Curlew with many more individuals dotted about the exposed sandbanks and two Common Sandpiper. Plus many hundreds of BHG’s and HG’s.
