Visit to the marshes coincided with a very low neap high tide so most waders remained on the estuary. A spoonbill was roosting on Greenland Bank and a flock of 26 common gulls included only two adults. A very dark lesser black-backed gull was a good contender for an intermedius.

Away from the estuary there were about 30 brent geese, c50 wigeon and c100 teal. On the lagoon were 3 pochard and 4 tufted duck (all males). A flock of c20 sand martin drank from the lagoon briefly before continuing north.  Other signs of spring included a flock of 30 linnet over, 5 singing chiffchaff and noisy pairs of shelduck.
