Mid-morning visit to the viewing platform on the canal bank. Most waders were on the estuary . The c120 curlew were visible from the canal. On the recently flooded scrapes were 8 teal and 2 greylag geese, (no sign of the 3 cattle egrets there last evening). Overhead steady passage of swallows and house martins. Two swifts joined them but lingered over the scrapes. Also 2 kestrels, one stonechat and c6 chiffchaff in the canal-side bushes.
