A big high tide, pushing all birds off the estuary on to the surrounding marshes.

On Exminster 350+ Curlew, spread over 3 locations. 35 Avocet, 19 Barwit & a few Redshank.

Duck numbers declining, but with help of the 3rd cy Male Marsh Harrier counted 160+ Teal, 150+ Wigeon and 30+ Shoveler. No Pintail though. 151 DB Brent goose. On lagoon 2M Tufted, F Pochard and Little Grebe. 16 Coot overall too.

Waders from Turf included 450+ Dunlin, 210+ Blackwit, 60+ Oystercatcher, 48+ Barwit, 57+ Grey Plover, 34 Knot, 53 Avocet, but only 20+ Redshank. Lots of Curlew too but these were part of the birds from Exminster.

Also 7 Red-breasted Mergansers (4M, 3F) from Turf. Also 45+ Shelduck and 47+ Common Gull. Black-headed Gull numbers down to just under 50.

Otherwise 4 singing Cetti’s Warbler, 2 singing Reed Bunting, 6 Meadow Pipit, 3-4 singing Skylark, 1 singing Chiffchaff, 1 singing Goldcrest at Turf as well as a Great Spotted Woodpecker there.

Further north between Topsham Ferry and Countess Weir, another singing Cetti’s Warbler, a singing Reed Bunting, a single Chiffchaff and male Tufted on the river.

Finally on pools at Countess Weir, 26 Teal, 20 Wigeon and 2 Green Sandpiper.
