A cycle down to Countess Weir and then a walk down cycle path to Topsham Ferry crossing. Highlights were 8 White-fronted Geese (6Ads, 2 2nd cy) and a Spotted Redshank towards southern end. Also a Treecreeper opposite the sewage works. Masses of birds on the flooded fields. 20+ Avocet, 30+ Lapwing, 145+ Curlew, 160 Blackwit (mostly in flight over) and 15+ Redshank. In addition to the White-fronts, 80 DB Brent’s, 4 Greylag, an Egyptian Goose and 12 Swan Geese/hybrids!
Ducks more to southern end with 40+ Teal, 30 Wigeon, 8 Pintail, 4 Shoveler, 2M Gadwall and 2 Tufted.
Also Imm Marsh Harrier and Ad F Kestrel, 15+ Meadow Pipit, 4+ Skylark, 2 Reed Bunting and M Stonechat. On the canal 2 Cetti’s Warblers singing, 6 Redshank-breasted Mergansers and 2+ Kingfishers (M and F).
