Viewing from the Turf prior to the WeBS count that was due to start at 11.30 a spoonbill could be seen in the River Clyst channel. Nearer were about 100 avocets and a good selection of other waders including knot, grey plover, golden plover, greenshank and less usual this high up the estuary turnstone (9) and sanderling (3).

From nearer Powderham Corner and looking SW towards the tower in Powderham Park was a collection of egrets in a field with sheep. Only a portion of the field was viewable and that held 64 egrets, of which c30 were cattle egrets and c30 little egrets.
