The highlights of a blustery cruise in the wake of Storm Isha were an immature Spoonbill feeding off Powderham, a female Eider between Starcross and Lympstone, and a Guillemot well up the estuary off Lympstone Barracks. Some 15-20 each of Red-breasted Mergansers and Great Crested Grebes were scattered, but mainly in the upper part of the estuary.

As usual, most of the waders were concentrated between Turf and Topsham: hundreds each of Avocets, Black- and Bar-tailed Godwits, Curlews, Redshanks and Dunlins  with smaller numbers of Knot and Grey Plover. There was a distant flock of Golden Plovers over Exminster Marshes.
