Another ride down the Toll road this evening, after checking the scrape where 5 Godwits were present, Not much at all at Crossbanks – too much disturbance. Man working on boat put up a sail which flapped noisily, helicopter went over… etc etc. 2 Redshank, Little Owl seen again.

However, further up the Pill just south of the Toll House, opposite the upside down blue boat was a good size flock of Dunlin – I counted over 75 so possibly a hundred present. Star prize, however went to the preening Curlew Sandpiper which finally and conclusively revealed it’s white rump, and as it moved around, it’s elegant stance and feeding action became obvious. There may have been another with it, but all too suddenly they all flew off South.
